The first brief will run for 6 weeks [25.09.23 – 2.11.23] and will introduce students to analytical, computational and graphic communication skills with which they will be able to address the performative aspect of the urban context and the environmental conditions of the given site. The investigation will also focus on a live project / building as a case study mass analysis input. This analysis will set the basis for the development of the following brief.
During the development of the first brief, students will also be introduced to software such as Rhinoceros 3D, Grasshopper + environmental simulation plugins as well as AI / ML platforms. The site is an urban area that develops around King’s Cross with a particular focus to the Google Headquarters King’s Cross building by Heatherwick studio in collaboration with A10, AKTII and Bjarke Ingels Group [please refer to the attached map]. The area is in a proximity to the canal which enables it as a biodiversity driver. Its proximity to leading infrastructure network nodes makes it a very important location to analyse contextually and environmentally.
