Brief:
Design an environmental incubator building for sustainable design R&D. It should serve as a teaching and learning center. Include a public facility to engage and educate the local community through immersive activities.
Programme and Site:
For Sustainable Materials, the programme includes a recycling/biomaterial lab and retail/exhibition space at the Vacant Corner site. For Design with Nature, the programme is a wellness/rehabilitation center and NHS consultation space at the Johnstone Boat House site.
Building Requirements:
The building should be at least 2 storeys high, with indoor and outdoor spaces. It must include private spaces such as an office, storage, and facilities for 2 staff members. Semi-public spaces should comprise a community education space and a communal unisex toilet. Public spaces need to feature an exhibition space, retail area, public through-route, and gardens.
